Cedarville Students Capture Four of 18 Ohio Education Scholarships

by Public Relations Office

Cedarville, Ohio—Cedarville University students have been selected to receive four of 18 available math and science education scholarships from the Ohio Space Grant Consortium (OSGC). OSGC is part of the congressionally funded National Space Grant College and Fellowship Program administered by NASA. Because of poor performance of K-12 students across the nation in math and science, OSGC initiated this special scholarship program to encourage the future math and science teachers who are training in Ohio`s universities. Each scholarship is worth $1,250. Recipients will attend a December 3 conference at the NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland to become familiar with NASA`s many K-12 teaching resources. Each student is to incorporate these resources into a project and then present the project at the annual OSGC symposium in April. The Cedarville recipients of the scholarships are Amanda Anzalone, a junior mathematics education major from Quito, Ecuador; Shannon Keyser, a senior life science education major from Haverhill, Mass.; Kara Simons, a junior integrated science education major from Willoughby, Ohio; and Sara Skaggs, a senior mathematics education major from Sandusky, Ohio. -30-
