Japanese Marimbist to Perform as Part of Springfield Rising Stars Series

Cedarville, Ohio—Japanese marimbist Naoko Takada will perform at Cedarville University on Sunday, Mar. 21 as part of the Springfield Arts Council Rising Stars Series. The concert will begin at 3 p.m. in the Recital Hall of the Dixon Ministry Center on the Cedarville campus. According to the Springfield Arts Council Web site (http://www.springfieldartscouncil.org/rising_stars.htm), Takada began her studies of the marimba at age eight. The site explains, "After receiving her bachelor of music degree, she earned a master of music degree from Ithaca College. Takada won First Prize in the 2002 Young Concert Artists International Auditions, and has performed in the Los Angeles Philharmonic Percussion master class, as well as master classes for Ney Rosauro and William Moersch."
