Neil Simon Comedy to Open Cedarville University Theatre Season

by Public Relations Office

Cedarville, Ohio—Cedarville University will open its 2004-05 theatre season with the popular Neil Simon comedy "Broadway Bound." "Broadway Bound" poignantly blends humor and tenderness in its portrayal of American family life in 1949. Eugene and his older brother, Stanley, are trying to break into the world of professional comedy writing while coping with the breakup of their parents` marriage. Their efforts to come up with material for a comedy sketch sparkle with hilarity. When the show is broadcast on the radio for the first time, the family is upset to hear what they think is a comic rendition of their trials. "Broadway Bound" is an honest look at the pain and joy of family relationships. The play is directed by Rebecca Baker, assistant professor of communication arts at Cedarville University. Performances are Oct. 1-2 and 7-9 in the Cedarville University Stevens Student Center Theater. Shows begin at 8 p.m. nightly with 2 p.m. matinees on Oct. 2 and 9. Tickets go on sale September 20; cost is $11 for adults and $7 for students. There is a $1 discount for cash sales. Call 937-766-4491 or 1-800-860-7625 for more information.
