Russian Cellist to Perform as Part of Springfield Rising Stars Series

Russian cellist Alexandre Bouzlov will perform at Cedarville University on Sunday, Jan. 18 as part of the Springfield Arts Council Rising Stars Series. The concert will begin at 3 p.m. in the Recital Hall of the Dixon Ministry Center on the Cedarville campus. Moscow-born cellist Alexandre Bouzlov began his studies at the age of six. At 17, he won first prize in the 2001 Young Concert Artists International Auditions. The Young Concert Artists Series presented Bouzlov's recital debuts in New York City, in Washington, D.C. at the Kennedy Center, and in Boston at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. He currently studies at the Moscow Conservatory. The New York Times stated, "Bouzlov is a cellist in the Russian tradition, with a huge capacity to make the instrument sing, pulling his audience into the sound.
