by Public Relations Office

Cedarville, Ohio-Approximately 300 high school students from across the Miami Valley will compete in the local TEAMS exam (Tests of Engineering Aptitude, Mathematics, and Science) at Cedarville University on Thursday, Feb. 12. In TEAMS, groups of students develop teamwork and critical thinking skills by working on an open-book, open-discussion engineering exam. The test problems are similar to college freshman-level engineering questions and show students how math and science concepts can be applied to real-life problems. Attendees come from seven counties and represent schools such as Beavercreek, Bethel, Carlisle, Carroll, Cedarville, Chaminade-Julienne, Franklin-Monroe, Northeastern, Northmont, Springfield, Tecumseh, and Yellow Springs. The competition begins at 9 a.m. in the Stevens Student Center Event Rooms on the Cedarville campus. Awards and recognition are given in the afternoon. Media interested in covering the TEAMS competition should contact the public relations office at 937-766-7807. TEAMS is administered nationally by JETS, the Junior Engineering Technical Society. The local competition is sponsored by the Dayton Society of Professional Engineers and Cedarville University. For more information, visit www.jets.org. -30-
