Cedarville University Hosts Benefit for the Disabled

by Public Relations Office

Cedarville, Ohio—On Saturday, Sept. 3, Cedarville University will be a local site for Walk `n Roll, a fun event which allows individuals, families, and groups to raise support for Joni and Friends, a national disability outreach organization. The event will include an opportunity to donate used mobility equipment. Participants should come to the indoor track of Cedarville University`s Doden Field House between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. to walk or roll at their own pace for their chosen distance (wheelchairs or strollers only — no pets, roller blades, roller skates, or skateboards, please). They can raise money by collecting sponsorships prior to the event. Contact Corrie Hines at 1-877-CEDARVILLE or chines@cedarville.edu to obtain sponsor sheets. Donations are used by Joni and Friends to host summer programs across the United States for families and individuals affected by disability. The programs provide fun and fellowship in a supportive environment while offering a break from the challenges of everyday life. Shirts and prizes will be given to Walk `n Roll participants who bring specific dollar donations. Receipts will be sent to the donors, acknowledging their gifts. Organizers will also be collecting used mobility equipment during the event. This includes manual wheelchairs, walkers, canes, crutches, and parts associated with mobility equipment. All donations will be refurbished and used by Wheels for the World, another outreach of Joni and Friends. For more information about donating equipment, contact Donna at teamhughes2@juno.com.
