Cedarville University Offers Look Into Fields Of Engineering And Nursing

by Public Relations Office

Cedarville, Ohio-High school students (public, private, and home school) from the Dayton area can explore the fields of engineering and nursing firsthand at Cedarville University`s Engineering Day and Nursing Day, both on Saturday, Feb. 19. Potential engineering and nursing students will have the opportunity to attend an introduction to their respective fields, observe demonstrations, and interact with University students, faculty, and alumni. Separate sessions will be held dealing with the topics of women in engineering and men in nursing. Both groups will have their own Q & A with a panel of Cedarville engineering or nursing graduates. Those interested in nursing will be able to sit-in on special sessions for parents addressing such subjects as succeeding as a nursing student, identifying outside courses that will transfer, and learning about nursing scholarships. Visitors interested in engineering are encouraged to tour Cedarville`s outstanding engineering facilities: the wind tunnel, materials lab, heat transfer and instrumentation lab, CAD and CNC manufacturing lab, engine test cell, digital design lab, electronics and communications lab, electrical machines and vibrations lab, controls lab, and senior electrical and mechanical design laboratories. The newly constructed Engineering Projects Building will also be open to visitors. For potential nursing students, nursing resources such as the Barrett clinical lab, which is equipped with industry-standard technology for on-site learning of basic clinical skills, and the 20-station multi-media lab will be open for viewing. There will be a mock code demonstration using our SIMMan, a game exploring culture, and a demonstration on how various computer programs are used in nursing. Both events are free, and registration begins at 10 a.m. Students planning to stay overnight in the residence halls must make reservations by February 14.
