by Public Relations Office

Cedarville, Ohio-Cedarville University`s Social Work Club will mark Eating Disorder Awareness Week (EDAW) Feb. 21-24 with nightly informative sessions. The meetings will be held at 8 p.m. each evening in Room 245 of the Engineering, Nursing, Science Center on Cedarville`s campus. The goal of the series is to teach the truth about eating disorders in light of the Bible and the healing power of Jesus Christ. Monday`s session will cover basic information about eating disorders, Tuesday will deal with cultural influences, Wednesday will address truths and lies, and Thursday will conclude with a talk-back forum. Tiena Britton, organizer of EDAW and a junior at Cedarville University, shared, "It is estimated that one out of three female college students and one out of four male college students struggle with an eating disorder, yet many people do not know what eating disorders really are or how devastating they can be. Having been through an eating disorder myself, my real passion for EDAW is to raise awareness of and reveal the truth about eating disorders." The presentations are free and open to the public.
