Energy Expert to Speak at Cedarville Series

Cedarville, Ohio—William J. Lhota, retired senior executive of American Electric Power (AEP), will speak at Cedarville University as part of the Distinguished Speaker Series of the Cedarville University Department of Business Administration. The Monday, Mar. 21 presentation will begin at 3 p.m. in the Recital Hall of the Dixon Ministry Center. Prior to his retirement at the end of 2001, Lhota was president of energy delivery at AEP and executive vice president of the AEP Service Corporation. Lhota was responsible for AEP`s power transmission and distribution systems in 11 states. He spent 37 years at AEP serving in numerous management positions. Throughout his career, Lhota has had extensive experience in public policy and labor relations. For 18 years, he supervised public policy in both Washington, D.C., and Ohio. He was instrumental in establishing cooperative relations between AEP and its labor unions. Lhota is currently the principal of Lhota Services, a sole proprietor business focusing on arbitration, mediation, and energy consulting, as well as consulting, teaching and lecturing on business and engineering ethics. Lhota has a bachelor`s degree in civil engineering from The Ohio State University and a master`s degree in management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is a registered professional engineer in Ohio, Michigan, and New York and a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, National Society of Professional Engineers, and the Ohio Society of Professional Engineers.
