IBM Efficiency Executive to Speak at Cedarville Series

Cedarville, Ohio—Russ Weir, services delivery executive for IBM Global Services — ITS Public Sector, will speak at Cedarville University on Monday, Jan. 31. His appearance is part of the Distinguished Speaker Series sponsored by the Cedarville University Department of Business Administration. Weir`s presentation will begin at 3 p.m. in the Recital Hall of the Dixon Ministry Center. Weir specializes in improving business processes to improve cycle time and quality. The major focus of his efforts has been in the transportation industry, where he concentrates on back-office automation and optimization of people and processes. Weir`s accomplishments include working with a major trucking company to streamline their claims process (saving the company an estimated $1.2 million per year and impacting the company`s profit margin by seven percent); improving an operational imaging system for a state workman`s compensation group (saving the group more than $6 million each year); and streamlining the billing department of a major trucking company, enabling them to go paperless and save more than $1.4 million. Weir earned a B.S. with honors in electrical engineering technology from Oklahoma State University. He has received several IBM Marketing and Technical Excellence Awards for the success of his projects. Weir`s presentation is free and open to the public.
