Chuck Allport, assistant to the academic vice president at Cedarville University, has received the Society of Automotive Engineers International (SAE) Excellence in Engineering Education Award.

A dedicated member of SAE International, Chuck has had a passion for the past 15 years to integrate SAE International into engineering education. He advised Cedarville’s SAE student chapter and won several honors for his work. During a 10-year period, the students received seven consecutive Outstanding Collegiate Branch Awards, attended high-level internships in Washington, D.C., and won top honors in the SAE World Congress Student Booth competition. They also designed and built four advanced alternative fuel vehicles, resulting in a feature article in Car and Driver magazine.

Chuck advised more than 30 competition teams during his 10 years in Cedarville engineering, earning an Outstanding Advisor Award from the Governors’ Ethanol Coalition, a personal commendation from the Secretary of Energy, and an Award of Outstanding Professional Achievement from the Dayton Engineering and Science Foundation. This latest award recognizes Chuck’s service at Cedarville and his continuing contributions to engineering education in several national level positions.
