Sign Language, Chinese Top List of Classes Open to Community

Cedarville, Ohio- If you've been wanting to learn sign language, Chinese, personal financial management, or reading tips, or even gain EMT-Basic certification, now is your chance! Cedarville University is offering five non-credit continuing education classes on these topics this fall.

American Sign Language

Open up a whole new world of communication by learning American sign language! This course will introduce students to the basic signs used to communicate with deaf people. You will discuss subjects such as the cause of deafness, the use of audiograms, learning disabilities, and interpreters versus educators. Registration deadline is August 29; class begins August 31.

Beginning Chinese

In this course, you will learn to recognize common Chinese scripts and characters as well as understand and verbalize the Mandarin dialect. Included is an overview of basic family dynamics, cultural and religious expressions, and commonplace customs and lifestyles. Registration deadline is August 25; class begins August 28.


Make a difference in the lives of people through skilled emergency medical care! Through didactic instruction, laboratory practice, and clinical experience in a variety of settings, this class will prepare you to obtain state EMT-Basic certification. Classes meet in the evening and some Saturdays. Registration deadline is September 1; class begins September 7.

Journey to Financial Freedom

Need help applying biblical principles to money and possessions? This course series begins this fall with "Module 1: God's Roadmap," covering topics such as stewardship, giving, budgeting, and debt/credit management. Registration deadline is September 6; class begins September 11.

Reading Rate and Comprehension

In this class, you will learn to use a variety of survey, reading, and self-pace techniques so that you can read as quickly as possible, critically evaluate what you read, and come away with a clearer grasp of the ideas presented. Registration deadline is August 29; class begins September 5 and 6.
