Cedarville, Ohio—Women at Risk, International is an upcoming conference at Cedarville University designed to help rescue women enslaved in sex trade. Dr. Warner, associate professor of sociology and conference presenter, notes, “Up to 800,000 men, women and children are trafficked illegally across international borders each year. Fifty percent of these are forced into sexual slavery.” Warner describes the conference as, “A unique opportunity to learn about the devastating topic of sex trafficking” and hopes it will provide ample and tangible ways to offer hope to victims.
Breakout sessions will focus on education and practical ways to intervene. There will also be opportunities to buy jewelry created by freed women, with all proceeds going toward further rescue efforts. Keynote speaker Becky McDonald will share her 36 years of experience working with wounded women around the world.
Sponsored by Women of Vision, a Cedarville organization focused on humanitarian aid, this all day conference will take place on September 15 on the campus of Cedarville University, in the Dixon Ministry Center.
