Cedarville, Ohio-On Saturday, September 29, Cedarville University will be a local host for Walk ’n’ Roll, an event which allows individuals, families and groups to raise funds for the disabled through the international disability outreach organization, Joni and Friends.
Donations are used to meet the practical, emotional and spiritual needs of the disabled through various Joni and Friends programs. The organization was started by Joni Eareckson Tada in 1979 following a diving accident that left her a quadriplegic, confined to a wheelchair. Since that time, her organization has changed the lives of thousands of families affected by disability around the world.
Andrew Arthur, a wheelchair bound junior English major at Cedarville, is excited about participating in the upcoming event. “The work that she (Tada) is doing with JAF serves not only to raise awareness around the world, but it also serves to reach people with the gospel.”
The day will include a wheelchair basketball game between the Moraine Minutemen and the Cedarville men’s and women’s basketball teams. There will also be wheelchair challenge courses, face painting, clowns and prizes.
