World-Class Composer Coming to CU

Cedarville, Ohio-World-class conductor and composer Jim Curnow will be the guest conductor at Cedarville University’s symphonic band and brass choir concert on Friday, April 13. The concert begins at 8 p.m. and will be held in the Jeremiah Chapel of the University’s Dixon Ministry Center.

The concert will feature pieces composed by Curnow, including Concert Piece for Trumpet, Terra Beata, Praetorius Variations, and Rejouisance.

Curnow currently is the president, composer, and educational consultant for Curnow Music Press, Inc. He also serves as composer-in-residence (emeritus) on the faculty of Asbury College.

Curnow has composed more than 400 works. His most recent commissions were for the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra and the United States Army Band. Curnow also was commissioned by the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games to compose the Olympic Fanfare and Theme for the Olympic Flag.

Curnow holds degrees in music from Wayne State University and Michigan State University.
