Cedarville, Ohio—The sounds of Celtic melodies, Disney classics and jazz masterpieces will soon fill the auditorium of Cedarville University as listeners enjoy the upbeat sounds of a melodic evening.
Cedarville’s annual POPS Concert will be held Friday, March 28, at 8 p.m. in the Dixon Ministry Center. The performance will feature a wide variety of musical genres by the University’s Women’s Choir, Concert Chorale, Symphonic Band and Jazz Band.
Appealing to all generations, the program will include the music of Duke Ellington, Leonard Bernstein, Van Morrison, Paul McCartney, John Lennon and George Gershwin, as well as arrangements by well-known composers Tom Billing and Leroy Anderson. The choirs will perform a plethora of pieces such as the Disney favorites “Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah,” “A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes,” “Jolly Holiday” and many others.
Arrangements by Springfield, Ohio resident Tom Billing will be featured in the performance, as well as compositions by Leroy Anderson of the Boston Pops.
Admission is $8, and proceeds are applied to the music scholarship fund.
Beth Cram Porter, chair of the music and art department, enthusiastically guarantees, “the concert will be great fun for music lovers of all ages!”
