Cedarville, Ohio—Cedarville University is proud to present a tuba euphonium concert in the Recital Hall on April 14 at 7 p.m. The evening will feature the Cedarville University Tuba Ensemble as well as Capital Thunder, the tuba euphonium ensemble from Capital University in Columbus, under the direction of Tony Zilincik.

“I know that the tuba does not always conjure up the most musical image to the non-musician,” says Michael DiCuirci, Jr., director of the Cedarville tuba ensemble, “but I assure you that this program will deliver on musical talent and depth.” The songs will range from organ-like chorals to tuba jazz selections backed by the jazz band’s rhythm section.

The evening will feature special guests Andy Millat of the Columbus Symphony and euphonium faculty member at Cedarville and David Freedy, a member of the Ohio Capital Winds, Brass Band of Columbus and Kentucky Symphony Orchestra. Capital Thunder will also be bringing renowned tubist Gary Tirey, professor emeritus and retired band director of Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio.

The concert will feature both groups, which comprise of 18 tubas and euphoniums, together and individually.
