Steven Fox, president and director of engineering at PowerTrain Technology, Inc., visited Cedarville University on March 12 and 13 to speak to the Jackets Racing Team and other local Formula SAE (FSAE) teams.
Fox, a licensed aircraft pilot, racecar driver, scuba diver, firearms instructor and FSAE judge since 1999, spoke to the teams about learning from the past. In his presentation, “Those Who Cannot Remember the Past are Condemned to Repeat It,” Fox challenged the teams to recall racecar-engineering history; engineering fundamentals; the laws of physics and mathematics; official FSAE rules and how to best use every team member’s personality and intellectual strengths in order to build a better racecar.
"We were honored to host SAE distinguished lecturer, Steve Fox. His presentation on was a unique mix of history, team psychology and technical insights peppered with a lot of captivating humor," shared Jay Kinsinger, assistant professor of engineering. "Following the presentation, Steve generously offered personal observations and input related to the three SAE collegiate design teams in attendance, University of Louiseville, Ohio Northern University and Cedarville. Steve's contribution was invaluable."
