DeMaurice Smith, executive director of the NFL Players Association (NFLPA), will speak in Cedarville University’s chapel service on Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010. The service begins at 10 a.m. and is free and open to the public.
An ’85 graduate of Cedarville, Smith is this year’s Alumnus of the Year Award recipient. He currently sits on the board of directors of the Good Samaritan Foundation, a philanthropic organization that seeks to aid inner-city youth in Washington, D.C., with education and job opportunities. In October, he was inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers.
A former trial lawyer and litigation partner with Patton Boggs, a law firm in Washington, D.C., Smith has also worked for the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Attorney’s Office and has taught classes on trial advocacy at the University of Virginia, George Washington University and American University.
