Library Services Welcomes Joseph Fox

by Public Relations

Cedarville University welcomes Joseph Fox, M.L.I.S., to the faculty of library services. Fox will be serving as an instructional services librarian and assistant professor of library science.

Fox earned his bachelor’s degree at Western Connecticut State University and his master’s degree in library and information science at San Jose State University. He is currently completing a master’s degree in educational technology at Boise State University. Before coming to Cedarville, he worked as a librarian at the University of New Haven and interned at Sacred Heart University. In addition, he has provided IT support for the West Hartford Public Library and several publishing and pharmaceutical companies.

As an instructional services librarian, Fox partners with faculty to give informational sessions about library databases, resources and materials to students. He also helps create online guides for classes or subject areas that require additional research. Research at the library can often be daunting for students, so the online guides provide lists of helpful books or articles that the students can use.

Fox also works at the reference desk in the library. Reference librarians provide assistance to students, faculty and staff as they work on rigorous course projects or research. Fox can help students or faculty define a topic, develop a strategy, identify reliable sources and find those sources on campus or through interlibrary loans.

“I enjoy helping students with their research and sharing new ways to find and evaluate information,” said Fox. “The library has a strong commitment to developing new instructional tools to further help our students and faculty, and it’s great to assist with that in some small way.”
