The Ohio Chapter of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (ASCP) has selected Jeffrey Lewis, Pharm.D., associate dean of the Cedarville University School of Pharmacy, as a featured speaker for their continuing education summer series.
Members of the ASCP are pharmacists involved in long-term care, most of whom work in nursing homes. Through the group they are given many opportunities to gain some of the continuing education credits required to maintain their licensure.
“The title of the program is ‘Laws, Rules and Good Practice: Pharmacy in Ohio,’” said Lewis. “I update the membership of ASCP on some of the more recent changes in pharmacy practice rules and regulations in the state of Ohio. But, I spend the majority of that continuing education hour discussing the epidemic of prescription drug abuse and the many things that are happening to combat the abuse and the tragedies that result from it. This particular topic has captured the attention of the nation, so it’s neat to be able to use that forum of continuing education to address a very important topic of healthcare and of society."
