Jewerl Maxwell, Ph.D. and assistant professor of political science, presented a paper, "Challenges and Opportunity in Times of Presidential Adversity," at the 82nd Annual Meeting of the Southern Political Science Association in New Orleans, Louisiana. The paper examined how United States presidents use their executive authority during times of national crisis. He presented portions of his work from chapters that will be published in a forthcoming book, Tough Times for the President.
