Cedarville University Performs “The Importance of Being Earnest”

by Public Relations

Cedarville University’s theatre program will perform Oscar Wilde’s "The Importance of Being Earnest" September 30-October 9.

The show uses witty dialogue and mistaken identities to satirize the hypocrisy of social obligations. Two ladies are in love with handsome young men named "Ernest," who in actuality are only two bachelors fallen prey to romance while still struggling with the allure of freedom. Though set in Victorian England, Wilde’s comedy holds true in its hilarity as it breaks through boundaries of arbitrary social conventions.
