Best-selling author Dannah Gresh and Cedarville University are working together to help today’s youth live a life of purity in spite of the growing tension of popularity and peer pressure. The partnership is a national campaign that will also introduce thousands of youth and parents to Cedarville’s rigorous, Christ-centered education.
Gresh is a 1989 graduate of Cedarville University and is a best-selling author of more than 15 books including “And the Bride Wore White” and “Lies Young Women Believe” (with Nancy Leigh DeMoss). Along with her books, Gresh speaks nationally to youth and parents through her Pure Freedom ministry.
“Our ministry is here to teach men and women of all ages to live lives of purity, to heal from moments of past impurity and to live in the covenant of marriage that is a picture of Christ and the church,” Gresh said.
Through its partnership with the University, the ministry is launching a new Pure Freedom event this year that will include worship, in-depth Bible teaching, interactive games and fashion shows for moms and teen girls. The three-hour event targets students in middle and high school and their moms.
The fall 2012 Pure Freedom tour will visit 11 cities in the Southeast starting on October 18, 2012 in the Atlanta area. Gresh and her team will travel from Florida to California encouraging women to live lives of purity and understand that they are a masterpiece created by God.
Pure Freedom has offered internships to Cedarville women for the past eight years. Gresh said she is excited to partner with her alma mater to share Pure Freedom’s message with over 60,000 individuals who will attend the calendar events this year.
“As a small ministry team made up of only four full-time staff members, trying to pull off 80-140 events around the nation would be impossible without ministry partners like Cedarville who assist us financially and practically,” Gresh said.
Janice Supplee, vice president for enrollment management and marketing, said that the partnership highlights Gresh’s relationship with the University as well as her relationship with mothers and daughters.
“She’s reaching a group of moms and daughters that may or may not be familiar with Cedarville University,” Supplee said. “She can speak honestly with families about what Cedarville is like because of her first-hand experience.”
