Cedarville University recently received an $800,000 gift from an anonymous donor for the purpose of providing an endowed scholarship. The contribution is one of the largest endowed gifts made to the University.
“The fact that it is an endowed scholarship is really exciting,” said Amanda Gillespie, advancement officer at Cedarville University. “What this means is that the funds are going to be invested and their influence will extend for many years-- lending a sense of stability to this award.”
Cedarville University distributed 330 endowed scholarships totaling over $545,000 in the 2011-2012 school year. “A donor-funded scholarship is generally a surprise to students, but they are well received because it makes such an impact in the lives of each student, said Gillespie.”
