History and Government Homecoming Reunion

by Tom Mach

The Department of History and Government will once again host a departmental reunion at the “Founded:  Homecoming 2012” celebration this fall. The University is commemorating 125 years since its charter was granted by the state of Ohio. This year’s departmental reunion will be somewhat different than the past. Alumni Relations has planned an informal gathering after the homecoming parade called “CU by the Lake.” You can guess where this is taking place! So, come by after the parade and see your favorite history and government faculty and friends. We would love to catch up with you.

This year’s homecoming is of particular interest to us as the University looks back on its 125 year history. As past president Dr. Dixon used to say, “You can’t explain Cedarville apart from God.” God has certainly blessed Cedarville College and now Cedarville University. The University commissioned that Dr. Murdoch’s history of the institution, Cedarville College:  A Century of Commitment, be revised and updated. This coffee table-style book maintains Dr. Murdoch’s insightful review of the founding of Cedarville and the first hundred years of its existence, including the transition from Presbyterian to Baptist, while adding a narrative of the last 25 years. This book will be available for purchase during the homecoming celebration. Most importantly, homecoming will be a time of reflection of all that God has done through Cedarville and a chance to renew some old friendships. Please come and join us!
