The college basketball season is quickly approaching. And for Cedarville University, Moonlight Madness on Oct. 27 will officially tip-off its inaugural season as a full NCAA Division II member. Doors for the free event open at 9 p.m. and the event begins at 9:30 p.m. in the Callan Athletic Center. Cedarville’s Student Government Association (SGA) is sponsoring the event.
Fans will be introduced to the 2012-13 Cedarville University men’s and women’s basketball teams and will get a chance to see them play and show off their skills in a high-energy environment. The Yellow Jacket pep band and cheerleaders will also be in attendance to add to the excitement of the evening.
“SGA has done a tremendous job making this one of the premier small college, pre-season, events in the country,” said Patrick Estepp, head men’s basketball coach. “The atmosphere that night is always electric. We hope that Moonlight Madness gets our student body really excited about this season.”
Kirk Martin, head women’s basketball coach, said that no NCAA Division II program in the United States has a more exciting Moonlight Madness than Cedarville. “The place is always packed,” Martin said. “The pep band is always loud, and it’s a great college atmosphere and for our basketball programs. We’re so appreciative that the students invest in this.”
Fans are encouraged to follow and tweet to @CUYellowJackets for chances to win prizes throughout the evening.
