Award Winning Songwriter to Host Workshop

by Public Relations

Cedarville University will host singer and songwriter Mark Harris in a songwriting seminar on Feb. 23 at 9 a.m. in the Cedarville University Dixon Ministry Center.

Harris is a former member of contemporary Christian group 4Him, winner of eight Dove awards and author of 24 No. 1 hit songs. In addition to achieving professional success, Harris also serves in his local church as a worship pastor.

Associate professor of music Roger O’Neel said the seminar is designed for aspiring songwriters who want to hone their skills. “We want to encourage a culture of songwriting within our Cedarville University family,” O’Neel said. “Bringing individuals like Mark Harris in help encourage our students to develop their creativity and help to fulfill the command of singing to the Lord a new song.”

O’Neel shared that the event will feature a songwriting competition to encourage Cedarville University students in their creative work.

The seminar, which is sponsored by the Cedarville University Department of Music and Worship, is free and open to the public.
