Another Record Enrollment

by Mark D. Weinstein, Executive Director of Public Relations

For the eighth consecutive year, Cedarville University has achieved record student enrollment. The University’s total enrollment has climbed to 3,620, surpassing last year’s record of 3,472 students.
“We are thankful to God for the stewardship he has entrusted to us at Cedarville University with another record student enrollment,” said Thomas White, president. “We have a vision to be bold with students pursuing their passion and proclaiming Christ. It appears that this vision has appealed to students who want to stand with us for the Word of God and Testimony of Jesus Christ.”

Cedarville’s enrollment growth has primarily come from a 35.5% growth in students enrolling in graduate programs and a 63.6% increase of transfer students. The University has experienced a steep increase in high school students enrolling in the dual enrollment program. Ohio students participate through PSEO.
Just as impressive as the new student recruitment is Cedarville’s strengthening of its freshman-to-sophomore retention rate. Already a national leader in student retention, Cedarville’s new rate of 88.2% is the best during its eight-year run of record enrollments. In 2013-14, the retention rate was 85.1%.

“The increase of students enrolling this year compared to last year tells me that we are doing a better job of working with the applicants, connecting with them, and communicating with them,” said Roscoe Smith, associate vice president for university admissions. “The admissions counseling team did an outstanding job with their applicants and staying connected with them until they arrived on campus.”

Located in southwest Ohio, Cedarville University is an accredited, Christ-centered, Baptist institution with an enrollment of 3,620 undergraduate, graduate, and online students in more than 100 areas of study. Founded in 1887, Cedarville is recognized nationally for its authentic Christian community, rigorous academic programs, strong graduation and retention rates, accredited professional and health science offerings, and leading student satisfaction ratings.
