Paul Baloche to Host Worship Workshop and Concert

by Public Relations

Christian singer and songwriter Paul Baloche will host a workshop for worship leaders and perform a concert at Cedarville University on Sept. 13-14.

The “Leadworship Workshop,” which is sponsored by the department of music and worship, is designed to encourage and equip church worship leaders and their teams. Areas of specialty training include audio, vocals, songwriting, guitar, keyboard, drums and percussion. Worship team members will divide into their areas of expertise before coming together for the final session. Each interactive session will offer personal coaching from Baloche and other successful musicians, including Michael Neale, Carl Albrecht, Ben Gowell and others.

Baloche has led worship at Community Christian Fellowship in Lindale, Texas, for 23 years and has recorded 12 albums. Many of his songs, including “Open the Eyes of My Heart,” “Your Name” and “Above All,” are sung in churches around the world. Known as a modern hymn writer, mentor and teacher, Baloche seeks to create songs with like-minded worship artists who understand the hearts and prayers of those they serve.

According to Roger O’Neel, Ph.D., associate professor of music and worship, Baloche has also played a significant role in developing worship pedagogy. “Paul is one of the most influential worship leaders and songwriters in the world today. His career spans several decades, and his impact on the modern worship movement is impossible to quantify,” O’Neel said. “In addition, his teaching videos and conferences have greatly impacted worship pedagogy. I’m glad our worship students can hear him firsthand.”

Workshop registration includes a concert on Friday evening, which is also available to the general public. The concert will be held at 7 p.m. on Sept. 13 in the Jeremiah Chapel of the Dixon Ministry Center. Tickets for the concert are $15. All tickets are general admission and are available online.
