Retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Loren Reno, dean of Cedarville University’s School of Business Administration, has been appointed as a United States Air Force fellow for the Institute of Defense and Business (IDB) at the University of North Carolina (UNC). Reno will be inducted into his one-year position in Washington, D.C., on Oct. 9.

In this new position, Reno will give guidance and share his wisdom with junior and senior active-duty officers in education and training programs. IDB is a nonprofit organization that serves as a catalyst for mentorship in areas of logistics, leadership, economic reconstruction and stability operations.

Reno was recommended for this position by previous IDB fellows based on his involvement with the Air Force and higher education. As a new fellow, he will travel to UNC a few times a year and provide mentorship in the various IDB courses. Reno’s goal is to enrich students’ learning by lecturing, asking stimulating questions and providing guidance to small groups.

In 2012, Reno was named the inaugural dean for the school of business administration. During his 38 years of service in the United States Air Force, General Reno served as a senior logistician with policy oversight and budget advocacy for 207,000 maintainers, logisticians, civil engineers and security forces men and women.

According to Reno, the appointment at IBD will serve as a platform to expand the kingdom of God. “To be from a Christian university and be the Air Force fellow for a program at the University of North Carolina is a big deal — a big deal for the kingdom of God,” said Reno.
