Six Sigma Green Belt Certification Course

Cedarville University will offer a Six Sigma Green Belt certification course in the spring semester, starting on Jan. 30 on Thursdays from 6-9:30 p.m. The noncredit course costs $1,600 and is open to the public.

This training is the introduction to the fundamentals of Six Sigma and the Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control (DMAIC) process for those interested in becoming project management professionals. It is a business strategy, used by numerous organizations such as Motorola, General Electric and Bank of America, that focuses on eliminating defects and improving quality.

Six Sigma training has four levels: yellow belt, green belt, black belt and master black belt, which is the highest level of certification. While the Six Sigma Green Belt course is best for college seniors, juniors may it helpful as well, as it significantly overlaps with some of the upper-level management courses offered through the school of business administration.

The instructor for the course, Bruce Dellaposta, is a certified Six Sigma master black belt who has over 20 years of real-world project experience and has been certifying and training others in Six Sigma for five years. He has his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business and is a former instructor for the International Society for Six Sigma Certification.

According to Dellaposta, the certification helps students and professionals stand out in the rest of the market. “The Six Sigma Green Belt certification will set you apart and give you the credentials that help to achieve competitive advantage when looking to capitalize on your career aspirations,” he said.
