Cedarville University will host 80 companies at the fall career fair on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014. The event, from 11 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. in the Doden Field House, is open to the public and free of charge.
Some of the country’s top employers will seek potential employees at this fair—which is the largest fall career fair in school history. Organizations participating include General Motors, Proctor and Gamble (P&G), Honda, J.P. Morgan Chase, PNC Bank, Sherwin-Willliams, FBI, Speedway, Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Dayton Children’s Hospital, Samaritan’s Purse, Reynold & Reynolds, and Dayton Power and Light.
“Each time a person speaks with a company about potential employment they develop the skills needed to market themselves,” said Jeff Reep, director of career services at Cedarville University. “This career fair will give students, alumni, and residents from the community an opportunity to interact with jobseekers in a comfortable, one-on one manner.”
Cedarville University has been hosting career fairs for more than 20 years. This is one reason why the University’s career placement rate is 94.7 percent. The national average according to the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) is 85%.
The career fair will also offer all participants the opportunity to get a professional photo for their LinkedIn account. Cedarville has made it a requirement for seniors studying engineering, junior majoring in business, and all freshmen education majors to attend a class using the social media tool for their career preparation. There is no charge for the photo. Also, 200 college students in attendance will receive a portable USB charger with the university logo.
