Nursing Program Ranked Among Nation's Best

Cedarville University’s online Master of Science in Nursing (M.S.N.) is one of the highest-ranked programs in the nation, according to SmartChoice’s Super Scholar rankings. Cedarville’s program is ranked number 20 of the top “50 Best Online Masters in Nursing Programs of 2015.”

Data for the ranking was obtained from websites such as the National Center for Education Statistics. Online nursing schools considered for this ranking had to be accredited by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing’s Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) to ensure accuracy. Then, colleges were ranked based on reputation, affordability, awards and return on investment.

Randy Johnson, Ph. D., professor of nursing, said he is excited about the success of Cedarville’s M.S.N.

“While we recognize this honor, we continue to focus on the goals and purpose of our programs,” Johnson said.  “We desire to uphold the highest standards for our students and use nursing as a ministry for Christ. This is core to our online program as well, and we desire that each graduate is successful in their certifications but also in their practice going forward.”

Cedarville University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) with an online M.S.N. and an online Graduate Certificate in Global Public Health Nursing. The M.S.N. allows students to specialize as a family nurse practitioner or a global public health nurse. The degree can be completed in a minimum of two years. The tuition for Cedarville’s online M.S.N. is $536 per credit.

According to SuperScholar, receiving an M.S.N. online is a beneficial decision, because it is a growing field, it allows nurses to specialize and it allows for greater pay. Furthermore, an online M.S.N. degree also allows nurses to teach higher education if desired, it has a high job security and it provides nurses the opportunity to continue work while receiving a graduate degree.

SuperScholar is managed by Coby Cagle, who received his undergraduate degree in business from Rhodes College and a Master of Divinity from George Fox University.  SuperScholar seeks to prepare students for college and their career after graduation by providing information about colleges, degrees and rankings of educational programs.

Located in southwest Ohio, Cedarville University is an accredited, Christ-centered, Baptist institution with an enrollment of 3,620 undergraduate, graduate and online students in more than 100 areas of study.
