Operation Heart, an initiative through the American Pharmacists Association Academy of Student Pharmacists, is partnering with the Health and Fitness Association at Cedarville University to host a 5K run on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 9 a.m. on Cedarville’s Elvin R. King Cross Country Course.
The 5K will promote heart-healthy activity. All proceeds will be used to provide scholarships for senior citizens in the Miami Valley for memberships to Cedarville University’s Fitness Recreation Center. Along with entry to the recreation center in the Doden Fieldhouse, scholarship winners will also have access to a personal trainer and a nutritionist who will assist them in working toward a healthy heart.
“The 5K walk/run is a facet to provide the heart health for both students and the Cedarville walking club,” said Nathanael Smith, a student enrolled in Cedarville’s professional pharmacy program. “To improve walking capabilities, walking club members have the chance to partner with our students in the Health and Fitness Association to progressively development heart health.”
The first 150 participants to register will receive a free T-shirt. The run cost $18 dollars, or $15 with an early registration through October 10.
