by Shannon Eighmey, Public Relations Writer

The department of music and worship at Cedarville University will hold its first Songwriting Seminar on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Dixon Ministry Center.

The seminar will be led by renowned worship leader, teacher, author and pastor David M. Edwards. Edwards is currently an artist-in-residence at Regent University International Center for Worship in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

In 2011, Edwards released a solo album, “Here with You,” which was recorded through the Maranatha Music/EMI record label in Nashville, Tennessee. Worship Leader magazine honored him with the Best Scripture Song award in 2005 for “Create in Me” and a Praise Award in 2007 for “Holy Rain.”

Edwards is a columnist for Rev! Magazine, a Christian publication. He has also served as the managing editor of “The Worshipper,” a publication in Worship Leader magazine and written three books: “Worship 365: The Power of a Worshipping Life,” “Encountering God: 10 Ways to Experience His Presence” and “Faithfully Yours: Psalms.”

The Songwriting Seminar is free and open to the public. Edwards encourages participants to bring an original song for him to hear.
