Value Makes CU a Smart Choice

As high school students and their parents start the college-search process, determining a school’s value is usually at the top of the list of priorities. Helping families in this process is SmartAsset, a financial technology company that recently released its list of 10 Best Value Colleges in Ohio.

The study finds the colleges that give you the most bang for your buck by focusing on five factors including; each college’s average scholarships and grants, starting salary upon graduation, tuition, living costs and retention rate.

Cedarville University ranked fifth on the list, and is one of three institutions in southwest Ohio that made the top 10. The others include Wilmington College (6) and Miami University (10). Ohio State ranked at the top of the list, followed by Case Western Reserve, Ohio Northern and Oberlin College.

"Cedarville scores above average across multiple categories including scholarships and grants, providing its students $11,352 - nearly $2,000 above the national average. Also, graduates enjoy an above average starting salary, $44,200, upon graduation,” said AJ Smith, managing editor and vice president of content strategy for SmartAsset. “Cedarville ranks well nationally as well, coming in 132nd out of approximately 900 colleges we took into consideration for our study,” she added.

“We’re always gratified by an external ranking that exposes the value of a Cedarville education,” Janice Supplee, Ph. D., vice president for enrollment management and marketing. “We focus intentionally on offering an excellent, Christ-centered academic experience, while making it as affordable as possible for families.”

The University’s placement rate exceeds 96 percent, and recent graduates from 58 of Cedarville’s 77 academic majors experienced 100 percent placement within six months of graduation.
