Veggie Tales Composer to Visit CU

by Shannon Eighmey, Public Relations Writer

Kurt Heineke, an award-winning composer for the animated series “Veggie Tales,” will visit Cedarville University on November 20-21 to share his experience with music students.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to learn from someone who has made a major impact in the Christian music industry,” said Austin Jaquith, D.M.A., assistant professor of music theory and composition. “I am thrilled that we have the opportunity to welcome Kurt Heineke to our campus."

Heineke began working with Big Idea Productions in 1993 when the creators of Veggie Tales asked him to produce their music for the new series. Heineke has been awarded six Dove awards for music composed for Veggie Tales.

Veggie Tales is series of stories conveying moral issues through a Christian worldview. Movies, TV shows, CD’s and books have made this animated series a teaching tool for children in churches, schools and homes around the world.

During his visit, Heineke will spend time with students in the music and worship department sharing his career path as well as insight into having a successful career in the music industry. These opportunities are open to the public and any students interested in a career in music composition, worship or music technology.
