Community educators gather for Edcamp Cedarville

by Madi Cannon, Public Relations Writer

The Cedarville University School of Education will host its sixth annual Edcamp Cedarville on Saturday, October 28. Edcamp is a free one-day professional development opportunity open to all community educators.

Edcamp is an innovative approach that allows educators to network and share their knowledge and experience. Participants benefit from Edcamp’s “unconference” format, which lets them select session topics and facilitate conversations about the best educational practices.

“Edcamp Cedarville is an opportunity for any educator to take advantage of a day of professional learning tailored to the topics she or he wants to learn, and it’s completely free,” said Dr. Jeremy Ervin, dean and associate professor of education. “Not only will the teachers be participants, but also the experts as they network and share what works, or didn't work, in their classes.”

More than 80 community educators, including superintendents, principals, paraprofessionals, teachers, homeschool parents and teacher candidates, are expected to attend this year’s Edcamp.

Giveaways will be awarded at the end of Edcamp, and educators who participate in the event are eligible for Continuing Education Unit (CEU) credit.

Educators can register online at www.cedarville.edu/Edcamp until October 24.
