Local Cedarville coffee shop Beans-n-Cream, 65 N Main St, Cedarville, OH, will host an art show December 8 from 6-10 p.m. The show is organized by Studio 25, a creative co-working space founded by former Cedarville student Jenn Zellers and 2013 Cedarville alumna Elizabeth Patterson. The show will feature the works of Cedarville University art students and alumni, all of which will be available for purchase. There will be live music from 5% Savvy starting at 8 p.m.
Art pieces on display will include oil paintings, ink and pencil drawings, photography, ceramic pottery and jewelry. A silent auction for some of the art pieces will be conducted both in person and online during the show. Auction pieces can be viewed before the event here. The winning bids will be announced at the end of the evening.
An abstract art puzzle will also be on display that was created from one of Patterson’s pieces. Visitors can sign a piece of the puzzle for $1, and the finished puzzle will be unveiled at the Studio 25 grand opening party early next year.
“Live music and warm drinks are a great way to connect with artists in the Miami Valley,” said Patterson. “It’s going to be a fun night. You can support local artists for as little as a dollar, give creative entrepreneurs a head start and take home a stunning, one-of-a-kind piece at the same time!”
Cedarville students involved in the show include Emily Entner, Alanna Esbenshade, Miranda Dyson, Kasey Hannay, Savannah Hart, Hannah Petelin, Joy Prichard, Emelia Shaffer.
“This is the first exhibit I've been in, and it's in a coffee shop I know and love,” said Hannay, a senior graphic design major from Westerlo, New York. “I've learned so much about printmaking this semester and have found a love for this art form. I think a lot of people take it for granted or just completely overlook printmaking because they don't understand the process and time commitment. I love telling people about how each different print is done.”
“I love the idea that people in Cedarville will get a chance to see what local artists are doing,” said Entner, a junior graphic design major from Midland, Michigan. “I’m excited to see what nonstudent artists are up to in the area and maybe get in contact with some of them.”
The art show will also features pieces by Cedarville alumni Levi Curby and Elise Parsons.
Studio 25 will open its first public gallery in early 2018 as a space where artists, photographers and entrepreneurs in the Miami Valley can create, learn and grow. The space will include a creative area and a photography studio. Studio 25 members may access the workspace and occasional passes will be granted to nonmembers.
