Joy grew up in a small town outside of Fort Wayne, Indiana. She attended Grace College and Theological Seminary, where she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in counseling with a minor in journalism. Shortly after graduating from Grace College, Joy spent a year interning overseas with a college ministry focused on discipleship and evangelism. Upon her return, she attended Ashland Theological Seminary where she received her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling. Joy previously interned at a private practice in Columbus, Ohio, and is currently licensed as a Professional Counselor in the state of Ohio. Joy joined Cedarville’s counseling staff in August 2018. She is passionate about working with university students and has a desire to see them thrive mentally, emotionally, relationally, and spiritually. Joy has worked to treat individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, OCD, major life adjustments, emotional difficulties, PTSD, sexual trauma, spiritual doubts, and relational stress. She seeks to help students experience more understanding, freedom, and healing in whatever challenges they might be facing presently and in the past. Joy is married to her husband, Dylan, and they live in Columbus. They love new adventures, traveling, watching movies, sports and games, and being with friends!
