On-Campus Wireless Connection

Smartphone, Tablet, or Laptop

For almost any modern device running one of the following operating systems:

  • Apple MacOS (10.6.8 or newer)
  • Microsoft Windows 7, 8, 8.1 or 10
  • Apple iOS (version 6 or newer)
  • Android (version 3 and newer)

You can connect directly to eduroam, using your full @cedarville.edu email and password when prompted. For detailed instructions, please visit our Knowledge Base

Gaming Systems, Internet-connected Accessories, and Smart-home Devices - Wired

For any device that has an ethernet port, you can connect it directly to the Cedarville network using a standard ethernet cable. The device should be configured to obtain an IP address automatically, but no other steps are required. IT provides and supports the gigabit network ports that can be found in each residence hall room. Ethernet cables can be purchased from the University Bookstore.

Ethernet ports in dorms are activated by request only. If you would like the port in your room activated, please submit an online service ticket.

Gaming Systems, Internet-connected Accessories, and Smart-home Devices - Wireless

If you would like to connect your device to our wireless network, you will need to register the device using our manual registration process. For more details on manual registration, please reference the Knowledge Base.

Other Devices

Even if your device doesn't fit into one of the above categories, you can still get connected. With a few exceptions (including some Windows Phones, eReaders, and BlackBerry smartphones), most devices are able to connect to our eduroam wireless network. Please try that first, as it's the best and most secure way of connecting to our wireless network.

If you have trouble, you can use our manual registration system to register your device with IT and have it placed on the cu-manual network, or bring the device to our TechStop counter for personalized assistance.

Off-Campus Wireless Connection

To access the necessary services for remote classwork, you will need an internet connection. Please keep in mind that the faster your internet connection is, the better your experience will be with remote classwork.
