Cedarville, Ohio—Its the day set aside each year to honor the men and women who have fought-and are fighting-for freedom.

On Monday, Nov. 12, at 10 a.m., Cedarville University will recognize veterans and active duty military personnel during the annual Veterans Day ceremony.

Designed to encourage reflection on the remarkable duty, responsibility, and heroism involved in serving in the Armed Forces, the University anticipates approximately 4,000 people will gather in the Dixon Ministry Center for the commemorative event.

The program will feature music from associate professor of music Beth Cram Porter, the University Symphonic Band, and locally-grown quartet Four by Grace. Speakers include Murray Murdoch, Xidong Chen, and former prisoner-of-war Howard Camp.

Captain Charles Robinson, a 1998 Cedarville graduate who was killed while serving in Afghanistan, wrote in his journals: Those who have never been [deployed]… will probably never realize nor understand the privilege or rarity... You cannot plan or ask for such a position. It does not happen by chance. So here I am. One of the most storied and contested battlefields in history lies right outside my door.

It is this sense of honor, destiny and patriotism that Cedarville wishes to celebrate.

The public is invited, and all military personnel are encouraged to attend in uniform. For general information, call 937-766-4159.

The Veterans Day presentation can be heard on CDR Radio, The PATH® (90.3 FM locally), at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. CDR Radio, The PATH®, is a community-supported media ministry of Cedarville University.
