Marvin Mumford, an emerging songwriter and worship leader, and bassist Bernard Harris, will be leading a night of worship and a guitar and bass workshop at Cedarville University Nov. 15-16.

The night of worship will be held on Friday, Nov. 15 at 8 p.m. in the Dixon Ministry Center Recital Hall, and the guitar and bass clinic will be Saturday, Nov. 16 at 9:30 a.m. in Dixon Ministry Center room 164.

Mumford emerged on the music scene as the lead singer for the group Coming Soon, who released their first project in 2002. He then launched his solo career with a debut project called Evening Worship. Harris, known for his unique left-handed style and playing his bass upside down, has played with artists including Toby Mac, Amy Grant, Phil Keaggy, Michael Tait, Aaron Neville and Nicole C. Mullen.

According to Roger O’Neel, associate professor of music and worship, the purpose of the night of worship and clinic is to encourage students and members of the local church to improve their own musical skills. “I hope that we can serve the local church by providing training opportunities so that their musicians will be able to improve their musical skills as well,” said O’Neel.
