Core Values

Excellence in Effort

Influence is earned through living with integrity and demonstrating a level of excellence uncommon in the world. In every vocational pursuit, Cedarville students pursue excellence because every moment is lived in Christ and for Christ. In family, church, work, and social commitments, anything done for Christ deserves the mark of excellence.

Integrity in Conduct

Deep love for God and love for others is put on display through lifestyles of integrity. When Cedarville students pledge to live with integrity, it is a commitment to be truthful, honor commitments, submit to authority, and obey the Word of God and just laws.

Love for Others

Jesus taught that love for God produces a love for people. God uses Christian community to grow His disciples toward maturity in Christ, and from the overflow of love between Christians, we extend love to the lost and broken.

Love for God

Jesus said the first and greatest commandment is to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. At Cedarville, we intentionally work to help students live God-centered lives and develop patterns of faithfulness that will endure for a lifetime.

Cedarville Covenant

We are a community of believers accountable to one another, called to reflect the character of Jesus Christ and to be obedient to His Word. We will be faithful in our support for the local church and in our practice of spiritual disciplines. We will practice biblical principles of encouragement, exhortation, and reconciliation. We commit ourselves to integrity, kindness, purity, and self-control and to continual growth in scholarship, leadership, and service.

Therefore, as members of the Cedarville community, we regularly affirm our commitment to the Cedarville Covenant with this pledge: We will love God and others, live with integrity, and pursue excellence in all we do.

Division Leadership

Dr. Jon Wood

Jon Wood serves as Vice President for Student Life and Christian Ministries at Cedarville University. In this role, he provides leadership for the student development, outreach ministries, and student services of the University. He also serves as Assistant Professor of Theological Studies in the School of Biblical and Theological Studies.

Jon’s passion is to know, love, and glorify God and to make multiplying disciples to reach the nations with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. His desire is to fulfill the Great Commission through equipping university students to make disciples for the rest of their lives. He believes this is best accomplished through expositional preaching, personal discipleship, and in-depth teaching of the Word of God in the context of each person engaging in evangelism and missions.

Prior to his arrival at Cedarville, Jon served in various leadership roles in student services and as an adjunct professor at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Jon received his bachelor's degree from the University of Oklahoma. He also received his Master of Divinity and his Ph.D. in systematic theology with a research focus in the doctrine of Scripture, hermeneutics, and cultural engagement from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. His free time is filled with running, reading, drinking coffee, spending time with friends, and enjoying life with his family. Jon and his wife, Ellen, have four children, Jackson, Olivia, Parker, and Lincoln.
