Visiting Campus This Fall

September 8, 2020

Fall at CedarvilleEven though we have had to cancel all large group events this fall due to COVID concerns  — like Homecoming and Parents Weekend and Grandparents Day — we wanted to remind you that you and your family are still welcome to visit your student throughout the semester. We should be getting some beautiful fall weather soon; it's a great time to visit Cedarville!

We ask that if you visit, you please follow the protocols in our Caring Well. Staying Well. COVID-19 Operating Plan.

August 10 Update: Preparing for a Healthy Return

August 10, 2020

Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:16)

What a joy to see students on campus again! Resident Assistants began arriving this weekend, and Getting Started leaders are coming today. Campus is beginning to spring to life. (And, did we mention that Chick-fil-A also opened for business at lunch today?!) We are surely embarking upon an unprecedented year as a campus community and humbly trusting the Lord for His protection and favor as we stand for the Word of God and the Testimony of Jesus Christ. Please be in prayer for Getting Started and all who will be traveling this week.

Today's updates include:

  • Practical advice from infectious disease expert Dr. Zach Jenkins
  • Personal wellness checks
  • Contacting Financial Aid
  • Packing reminders
  • Information for faculty and staff

Read today's updates now.

P.S. Watch for the next Caring Well. Staying Well. update on Wednesday this week!

Cedarville University signWe’re looking forward to having students back on campus in just a couple weeks! Whether your student is coming as a freshman or a returning student, there are two things you can do now to prepare for the year and stay connected with Cedarville: have your student sign you up for emergency notification and join the exclusive Cedarville Parent Facebook page. Read today's post to learn how to do both. They're great ways for you to stay in touch with what is going on at Cedarville.

Welcome to Cedarville Parent Connect!

July 27, 2020

Jeff BesteI graduated from Cedarville College 33 years ago, and I just finished my 32nd year as a staff member. But several years ago, I was looking at Cedarville University differently than I ever had before – as a PARENT! My oldest daughter graduated with Cedarville's class of 2020, and my middle daughter will be a junior nursing student this year. And, we have one more at home who is excited to follow her sisters to Cedarville in a few years. As an alumnus, staff member, and now a parent, I could not be more excited about where Cedarville is today and where we are headed.

The transition to being the parent of a Cedarville student brought some unique insights during our oldest daughter's first year, though. One of those was our desire for more communication! While we live only a mile from campus, we seldom saw Kylie (she was a crazy busy college student, right?), and when she did call home, the kind of information she shared was not necessarily what was happening on campus, or who was speaking in chapel, or what programs we might be interested in hearing about. It was about HER. I realized that parents needed a better way to be engaged with Cedarville and what is happening on campus.  It is my hope that Parent Connect, prepared especially for parents of current Cedarville students, does just that!

My goal is to send you information at least twice a month that can help you navigate your student's college experience — like school break times, when the semester ends, when your student has to be out of the residence hall, and how to access the livestream of chapel.

As Director of Strategic Relations, I recognize that parents are one of our most important strategic relationships. I look forward to hearing from you – let me know the kinds of things you want to hear about. How would you like to become more connected with Cedarville as a parent?

We can’t wait to welcome you and your student back to campus in less than a month! And, parents of new Cedarville students, we are so excited to meet you and welcome your student to Getting Started. Stop by under the University seal in the chapel so we can personally greet you.

This year will present some unique challenges for us all. Last week you should have received the "Caring Well. Staying Well. COVID-19 Operating Plan," which includes protocols and plans for a confident return to campus for fall semester

We will be praying for you as you prepare to bring your student to campus in a few weeks. Please reach out at parents@cedarville.edu if I can be of help.

Jeff Beste
Director of Strategic Relations
