Evangelical Scholarship Earns Award for Professor
Dr. Michael Shepherd was honored by the Southeastern Evangelical Fellowship.
Michael Shepherd, Ph.D., associate professor of biblical studies at Cedarville University, was one of five professors to be recognized at the third annual meeting of the Southeastern Evangelical Fellowship. The meeting was held in conjunction with the 67th annual meeting of the Evangelical Theological Society in Atlanta in November.
The award is based on excellence in research and writing, and for displaying the characteristics of a great commission scholar, particularly classroom instruction and Christian scholarship.
"The award is a very special honor and encouragement for me,” said Shepherd. “I am very grateful for Southeastern's new tradition of recognizing evangelical scholars for their contributions."
"We are grateful for Dr. Shepherd's work with our students. He excels as a scholar, but he also has the heart of a teacher,” said Jason Lee, Ph.D., dean of the school of biblical and theological studies. “His deep knowledge of the biblical text and his desire to be a faithful interpreter of God's Word is a great blessing to our School and to the University."
Shepherd joined the Cedarville faculty in the fall after spending nine years as associate professor of Christian studies at Louisiana College. At Louisiana College, he developed graduate courses for its Caskey Divinity School.
A published author of six books, Shepherd has also contributed to a variety of scholarly journals on biblical studies. He holds a bachelor’s degree from New School University (NY) and earned his master’s and doctoral degrees at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.
