Opportunities Expand with SARA Approval
Cedarville has been approved to join SARA, an agreement to expand educational opportunities.
Cedarville University has been approved by the Ohio Department of Higher Education to participate in the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA).
SARA is an agreement among 29 member states to standardize postsecondary distance education regulations. The program began in January 2014, and Ohio joined SARA in March of this year.
Cedarville University students can now receive supervised field placements in 28 other SARA states for clinical rotations, practicums and student teaching experiences.
In addition, Cedarville can now offer online courses, recruit students and hire adjunct faculty residing in other states, while complying with just one set of regulations, rather than varying regulations in different states.
“The rules and regulations were so different among all the different states that nobody could get a handle on what we needed to do for each and every state,” said Mandy Nolt, Cedarville’s accreditation and assessment specialist.
“In some states, we couldn’t market, advertise or recruit students at college fairs, but in other states it was unregulated,” said Nolt. “SARA gives all 29 member states a standard that will help Cedarville University expand its national presence.”
