Intercultural Blog Promotes Community
Greg Dyson, director of intercultural leadership, has started a blog to highlight intercultural activities at Cedarville.
To further the discussion of intercultural issues on campus, Greg Dyson, director of intercultural leadership at Cedarville University, has created the Intercultural Update Blog.
The blog shares the stories of students, faculty and staff who regularly engage in intercultural activities, providing the campus community with greater access to experiences that will help promote a better understanding of cultures.
“There are a lot of things going on around campus from a multi-cultural perspective,” said Dyson,” but we didn’t have a place where all the conversation comes together and people can see it.”
“The blog is a way to help show people that, despite our cultural differences, a body of believers can come together to do the work of God.”
The Intercultural Update Blog features weekly posts that highlight intercultural events and ministries around campus. The hope is that the blog will increase awareness and jump-start conversations about how Christians can better engage a diverse culture.
The blog will also include resources, such as helpful statistics, and a list of books and films, which will help people to better understand how to tackle intercultural and race relations from a Christian perspective.
“When I think about diversity, I think about God’s creation and how unique it is,” said Dyson. “As Christians we all have the same belief, but we are all very different in many ways. We want to create an environment where we can embrace the ways in which God has made each of us unique.”
