AEI education expert Gerard Robinson to speak at Cedarville
American Enterprise Institute resident fellow and former Virginia secretary of education invited by CU's AEI Executive Council to speak on the U.S. education system.
Cedarville University’s American Enterprise Institute (AEI) executive council will host scholar Gerard Robinson for a discussion about the U.S. education system. The event will take place Wednesday, Nov. 29, at 7 p.m. in the Center for Biblical and Theological Studies Room 115. It is open to the public.
Robinson has served as the Florida commissioner of education, Virginia secretary of education and president of the Black Alliance for Educational Options. He is currently a resident fellow at AEI, where he works on education policy issues.
“Education is a really hot topic on Cedarville’s campus and we want to tap into that,” said Victoria Eardley, a senior double major in applied communications and political science from Hilliard, Ohio, who is helping coordinate the event.
For Eardley and the six other students on the council, events like this are valuable because they encourage their fellow students to talk about important topics and continue to learn outside the classroom.
“For a lot of these policy discussions, people think that it doesn’t really affect them, but it does,” said Eardley. “Being on the council and hosting these events is an opportunity for us as students to do something really simple that makes a big difference.”
